This tea is one of our Pure Black selections. Check out the entire delicious collection here!

This classic leaf hails from the Wuyi mountains of China, offering the sweet plummy smooth earthy notes of that region in a black tea style that pulls forward full-bodied floral and cacao notes. Only recently has unsmoked Lapsang become popular outside its native region, and we are so glad to finally have access to it from our partners at the Lin family farm! This tea's more famous counterpart, the smoked Lapsang Souchong, is a popular worldwide favorite that is also worth checking out if you enjoy a good campfire flavor!

Ingredients: Black tea

Approximately 70mg of caffeine per cup

Steep at 195° F or 90.5°C for 3-4 minutes.

Incredibly Smooth, Delightful Taste; Plus Strong Fruity Aroma

I opened this one up and was incredibly surprised by the fruity aroma, my word. This is the first time I’ve tried an unsmoked Lapsang and I am intrigued, I’ll tell you that. The flavor tastes like it’s something in the vein of, well, Lapsang without the pine smoke, haha, so the name is apt! Add a bit of sugar if you’re feeling spicy, and you’re good to go.

Delicious tea

I coldbrewed this one for for about 16 hours, this one is fantastic, i am obsessed after one sip. i had to run to the website and check the description because this is the strongest tasting stone fruit tea ive had im like that taste like plums and thats exactly what the website says, i might have to buy a full bag because im might be obsessed with it after one sip
This tea is fruity and bold and smooth, it is so easy to sip on. I was gonna try it with some honey added in but it is perfectly sweet enough on its own i dont feel the need to add anything to it.

Dazzling

Similar to the Kumari Gold, I’ve found the Unsmoked Lapsang Souchong very forgiving. At lower temps, I get a big burst of bright fruity notes reminiscent of lychee(?) At higher temps, more caramel-like notes emerge. No matter what, I always take a journey from fruit through sweet malt to a mellow honey finish, with the temperature and brew time guiding how long I stay in each. The complexity is honestly astounding.

And the aroma! Honestly, this is hands-down the most gorgeous tea to just sit and inhale. I would 1000% wear a perfume that smelled exactly like this. All the same elements of its flavor profile, with an additional floral note that’s just beautiful. I love it.

Fruity!

Opening my sample, it smelled so strongly of raisins, it was like being back in kindergarten and opening one of those tiny snack boxes!

Brewing it up, it had a really lovely rich scent and flavor, though the fruity raisin notes faded after the first couple of steeps. I really like this tea! I think it's got the strongest fruit notes I've encountered so far without actually containing fruit somehow.
