Friday Afternoon Tea’s ROFL blend is a playful nod to web-speak, repurposed in the most charming way: Rose petals, Osmanthus flowers, French vanilla, and Lemon peel come together in this springtime, caffeine-free tisane. The concept behind the blend is as fun as its acronym, and with such promising ingredients, I was expecting a bouquet of punchy florals, sweet vanilla creaminess, and a zesty lemon twist. The dry aroma is indeed captivating—rose and vanilla leap from the package with vibrant intensity, hinting at a lush, fragrant cup to come.
However, the actual brew is much more restrained. Like one of the other reviewers, I found ROFL to be a very tame floral experience. The liquid transforms into a delicate pink-rose gold, the texture is pleasingly soft, and there’s a mild sweetness that carries through each sip. While osmanthus adds a gentle floral note and the French vanilla lingers subtly on the finish, the rose and lemon peel are nearly whisper-quiet, imparting only the faintest presence in both flavor and aroma. For those who shy away from intense florals or want a truly subtle, easygoing cup, ROFL could be a perfect fit—an ideal companion for a quiet afternoon or a soothing pre-bedtime ritual.
Personally, as someone who enjoys bolder flavors, I found myself wishing for a little more strength from each ingredient. The blend is harmonious, but almost too gentle, especially considering the exciting promise in its playful name and ingredient list. While I appreciate the soft, calming experience ROFL provides, I would rate this blend four out of five stars, reserving that last star for a bolder floral-tea adventure. Recommended for those who love a whisper of flowers and vanilla in their cup!
This is a delightful tea that's been a go-to during the spring season! The flavors of rose and vanilla are so yummy!
Despite the blend being pretty much all flowers, it's actually a very tame floral brew. Dry aroma is extremely strong of vanilla and rose, but the vanilla dissipated quite a bit in both wet nose and taste. Brewed 5min and drank neat; liquor turns from candy pink to sort of a washed rose-gold hue. Texture is very soft. It is very lightly sweet on its own, with a super subtle tang note at the back of my tongue. The aftertaste comes twice as strong on the rose flavor if I wait like half a minute between another sip though, I don't really know how to explain that part.
